Customizing the interface
All My Books is meant to be looked at for a long time, so it is worth spending five minutes making it comfortable.
How the collection is shown
The menu switches between four ways of displaying the collection:
| Title list | A sortable list with the columns you choose. The densest view and the fastest to search. |
| Cover thumbnails | A grid of covers — browsing rather than looking something up. |
| Cover Flow | Covers in a carousel you scroll through. |
| Virtual shelf | Spines on a bookshelf, with a choice of 20-odd shelf backgrounds — wood, marble, brick and so on. |
Show book details (Ctrl+Alt+Z) hides or shows the book card next to the list, and Ctrl+Z switches the card between the side and the bottom of the window. chooses how the card itself is drawn — 13 templates are supplied, including several designed for the dark theme and a high-contrast one for readability.
Dark theme
switches the whole program — windows, lists, charts and the book card template — to a dark palette.
On Windows 10 and 11 the same group has Same as Windows (All My Books 6.1 Build 1305 and later): the program then follows the light or dark app mode chosen in Windows settings and switches on the fly when you change it there. This is the default on a new installation; as soon as you untick it, the Dark theme box decides again.
List columns
The book list shows the columns you pick under Additional columns on the same tab: ISBN, book number, lent to, wishlist, unread, rating, year, publisher, series, location, pages, price, date added and more. Drag the column edges in the list to set the widths; they are remembered with the collection.
Nearby are the switches that change what the list and card show: Stars rating (stars instead of a number), Display original book title, Display alternative author's names, Display Last name first in the list, Display book list on the top and Hide toolbar.
Font and size
Book list font sets the typeface and size of the book list. Next to it, Scale enlarges the text of the book card itself, from 50% to 200% — useful on a big monitor, or when the default is simply too small to read comfortably. Ctrl+Num +, Ctrl+Num − and Ctrl+Num * change it without opening the dialog.
All My Books follows the Windows display scaling, including different scaling on different monitors, so dragging the window from a 4K screen to a Full HD one keeps everything the right size.
Interface language
holds 20 languages: Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian. Choose one and click OK.
The interface language also decides which language this online help opens in, and it is used as a hint by some of the online sources.
