Adding an e-book
All My Books catalogs e-book files that live on your disk. The card keeps the path to the file, so the book itself is one double-click away, and details are read out of the file where the format allows it.

Adding a single file
- Choose (Ctrl+F2).
- Select the file.
- The book card opens with whatever the file itself tells about the book (see the table below).
- Fill in or correct whatever you need, and click OK.

Document properties are only as good as whoever filled them in: a PDF or Word file often carries a working title or the name of the person who typed it, so check the card before saving.
If the file gave you only a title, press Enter in the Title field to look the book up online and get a proper cover, synopsis and rating. See Adding a book automatically.
Adding a folder full of files
Do not add hundreds of files one at a time. (Ctrl+Q) walks whole folders and adds everything it finds — see Scanning a drive for books. You can also drag files straight from Windows Explorer onto the All My Books window.
Opening the book from its card
The path to the file is on the Metadata tab of the card, in Local path. In the collection, the book opens in your usual reader from the book card or from the right-click menu (Open with). A book can have more than one file attached — the same title as EPUB and as PDF, for example.

Moving your files around later? Use Renaming book files to rename them from inside All My Books, so that the links in the collection stay correct. If files have already moved, re-run the drive scanner: it can find the ones that disappeared and re-link them.
