The question is how long a purchased license will stay valid? A year? Untill IMDB changes again and "All my Movies" stops working correct?

I am thinking about purchasing "All my Movies" because i like it a little better than the open source Griffith-tool. But i first want to know how often i need to pay for AMM.

Less than a year as far as I can see. I bought 3.95 in June last year. IMDB have changed there system and because 4.1 is out it looks like I have to buy that or scrap my database.

I have been asking if this will be fixed for 3.95, but no answer yet...

http://www.bolidesoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1509#1509

Also, 4.1 doesn't seem like a major version change from 3.xx, it looks more like a feature amend so should be 3.96 or something....

Anyway, I'll have a look at your open source one unless someone from bolide answers my questions...

I don't know how many of the forum-users have actually paid for "All my Movies" but from the things i read here the last few days the maker(s) of Bolide Software do not seem to be interested in making money and/or take it al too seriously. Confused
The comment earlier in this thread "You only have to pay 1 time" does not seem to be completely accurate when i read through other topics. That makes me doubt to buy "All my Movies" cause i don't feel like paying around $35 and get support for a few weeks or until IMDB and/or some other database changes something. For $35 i expect at least a year's license and good support and updates and after a year a cheaper upgrade. Embarassed

Version 4 needs a different licence then version 3 but that was mailed to all users that already had paid for a licence for any verisons prior to v.4...

No if you change to version 4 and can't use the licence you already have, then you need to talk to a mod and get them to re-mail the new licence... (I did that) and didn't pay for a new one.

*Don't think they are gonna fix prior versions for errors... thats what the latest updates/Versions are for.

I think the majority of them Smile I mean active forum users not the ghosts and spambots

This is wrong sentence. I will try to explain now.
In short, all minor updates are free. All major updates are available for registered customers at a reduced price (approximately 50% off).

Updates from v4.0 to v4.3 or to v4.9 are the minor updates and costs nothing.
Updates from v2.9 to v4.1 or from v3.9 to v4.9 are major and they are not free.

Also there is one more detail. If you purchased v3.9 and v4.0 is released in a month after that (major update) you'll get a new registration key for free.

The next major update (v5.0) will be in more than a year, I think.

So, when you buy all my movies, and 2 months after that there is a major update (according to bolidesoft, not for me, I was happy with the old one) and two weeks after that imdb changes, you have bad luck. Your software is useless then and you have to pay at least 16 Euros (including VAT, but a price without VAT is useless for any consumer in Europe) for an update. That is 19.75 Dollar at this moment. Its so possible that this software costs much more.

Ok my situation is different. I have purchased All my movies in 2005 and recently the minor update (for me) to 4.x. But with version 4.x All my movies lite is useless. I want an update for that so my parents and friends can read my database.

All My Movies Lite development was freezed because of low popularity. We better develop AMM than spend much time to update Lite version.

I suggest to use CHM format for your friends
