Hi there,
I am a new user, just installed version 5. I am also a professional software and database developer.
I must first say that I LOVE your program. So many features, so well designed. I am very impressed with the program and consider it money well spent!
I just went and imported the 400 movie files on my hard disk, and came up with the following list of suggestions:
1. (by far the most important for me) When the list of DVD covers is being retrieved from DVDempire, it would save me SO MUCH TIME if it could show a thumbnail preview of the cover. Much of the time I actually have to go to www.dvdempire.com and check which cover is which before I select the right one from the list you present to me.
2. I would LOVE a dedicated field called "IMDB rating" - which is the rating out of 10 on the IMDB website. I refer to that rating for every movie I ever watch. I have created a custom field for it, but it took me a lot of time to manually visit the IMDB website and enter that rating into the AMM database. If the AMM software retrieved that rating for me, it could also update it automatically when it changed (and it changes from time to time). The "5 star" rating system in the AMM software is great too - I use that for my own personal rating of the movie. It would be good to have a second field which is the "rest of the world (IMDB) rating".
3. Advanced filtering (maybe I haven't looked hard enough, but I couldn't find this). I would like to be able to tell the program to "Show me all the movies I haven't seen, that are in the Sci-Fi genre, and I have on VCD, with a rating > 3", or stuff like that.
Just out of curiosity, where does the AMM software get its "Rating" information from? IMDB? Because sometimes IMDB can rate the movie very highly (e.g. 8.2), and AMM can give it 3 stars.
Superb job - keep up the good work!
